Where Self-Expression Meets Purpose

There’s a quiet confidence about Nolwazi Mosehle — the kind that doesn’t need to demand attention to be felt. Raised in the small town of Lichtenburg in the North West, she carries both pride and purpose in the way she speaks about herself, her dreams, and the future she envisions. Rooted deeply in her Tswana culture, she represents a generation of young women who are embracing every part of themselves while fearlessly carving out spaces in industries that often try to define them before they can define themselves.

Currently studying a Bachelor of Arts degree at University of the Witwatersrand, where she plans to major in International Relations and Political Studies, she is determined to make an impact beyond the world of fashion. For her, education and creativity are not separate journeys but deeply connected paths. While modelling allows her to express herself visually and artistically, her studies reflect her desire to contribute meaningfully to conversations around politics, leadership, and change. She dreams of one day becoming a diplomat and representing South Africa on global platforms — engaging in difficult discussions, uncovering overlooked issues, and being part of movements that challenge the world to grow.

“I would like to make my impact or mark in the world by being apart of politics and being apart of the movement of wanting change.”

Her upbringing played a significant role in shaping the woman she is becoming today. Raised primarily by a single mother, she speaks openly about witnessing resilience firsthand. Though there were difficult moments growing up, those experiences taught her independence, strength, and perseverance. Alongside the sacrifices made by her mother, the support from her family continuously reminded her that she was loved and capable of achieving more than she imagined. Those lessons became the foundation for the confidence she now carries into every room she enters.

Modelling, however, was not always something she naturally felt comfortable pursuing. Growing up as a skinny girl often made her feel insecure about her body, especially in environments where difference can easily become something to criticise. But with time came self-acceptance. What once felt like insecurity slowly transformed into confidence and appreciation for the features that made her unique. Encouraged by people around her — and even strangers who frequently asked whether she modelled — she eventually began to see modelling not just as a possibility, but as something she genuinely wanted for herself.

For her, beauty extends far beyond traditional standards. She views beauty as self-expression — the freedom to embrace individuality without fear of judgment. Whether it’s experimenting with bold fashion, dyeing your hair red, or embracing alternative styles, she believes beauty lies in authenticity and confidence. In an industry often obsessed with rigid expectations, she hopes to redefine beauty on her own terms by encouraging people to see it as something personal rather than something dictated by society.

“Beauty is about what you like and what you want to do to express that for me.”

Being selected for this cover feature was both exciting and emotional for her, especially because it marks her very first cover. Grateful for the opportunity, she sees it as a milestone in a journey she is only beginning to explore. Yet even as her modelling career starts to grow, she remains committed to balancing her ambitions with her academic goals. Through discipline and structure, she believes she can create a lifestyle that allows her to prioritise both education and modelling without losing herself in either.

At this stage in her life, one of her greatest sources of inspiration is herself. She speaks honestly about wanting more for her life and refusing to settle for less than what she knows she is capable of becoming. That internal drive pushes her forward, especially during difficult moments. The fear of looking back with regret motivates her to take opportunities now instead of waiting for the “perfect” moment. To her, growth comes from action, and she refuses to let fear keep her stagnant.

“I inspire myself because I want so much for myself and I wanna grow. I never want to disappoint myself.”

Success, in her eyes, is deeply personal. Beyond titles, recognition, or achievements, success means being able to take care of her family and reaching a place where she can look at herself with pride and say, “I actually did it.” It is not simply about external validation, but about fulfillment and knowing that her hard work created meaningful change for both herself and the people she loves.

As she continues discovering more about herself, she is also learning to embrace her evolving sense of style, identity, and self-expression. From fashion choices to personal aesthetics, this season of her life is teaching her what truly makes her feel comfortable and confident. She hopes the next few years will bring opportunities to travel, grow her modelling career internationally, and ultimately reach the level she dreams of — one day walking on a stage as iconic as Victoria’s Secret.

But beyond personal success, she also wants her journey to inspire others. As someone who considers herself shorter than the typical modelling standard, she hopes to challenge limitations within the industry and prove that height should never define potential. She wants young women who may feel overlooked or discouraged to see themselves reflected in her story and realise that there is space for them too.

“I want to prove that even girls my height can make it into the industry and it shouldn’t stop them.”

Her message to aspiring models is simple yet powerful: just do it. Don’t overthink yourself out of your dreams. If you believe you are capable, take the chance, trust yourself, and go after what you want wholeheartedly.
